Description

RARE Vintage 1970's Randall Model 10-7 SALT FISHERMAN Knife - C/W  Original Sheath -  Duralumin handle . These knives have traditionally been made in Stainless Steel but this one does not have an S on the blade indicating stainless steel , they may not have put the S as they were not offered in Carbon so it wasn't an option. I am not sure so I can only guess it is stainless but it may not be.

Bo Randall was one of the first custom knife makers to achieve a cult like status. He began making knives in 1938 and carried on until his death in 1989. In 1983 he was inducted into the Blade Magazine Hall of Fame and in 1997 into the American Bladesmith Hall of Fame. His company has had a backlog of orders since 1953 and his sons who are carrying on the business currently have a 7 year wait list. When NASA needed an Astronaut survival knife, they went to Randall. Randall is widely recognized as the most collected knife maker .

This Model 10 has a 7" overall blade length with thumb grips on the back side of the blade near the handle. The handle is Duralumin which is a hardenable aluminum alloy. The handle is in good used condition with scuffs and scratches consistent with age and use.

The blade is sturdy, made from 1/8" steel and has been used and sharpened numerous times. The blade has the light associated scratches on the blade from this sharpening . Please see the many pics I have taken .These scratches could  be removed by an expert or sent to Randall for repair.... they in no way affect use , they are simply cosmetic but expected in a used knife. The blade will need to be sharpened prior to use.

The original and only owner before me had the knife custom made and engraved with his name RUDIE MAUSSER.

The included sheath is the original. It is stamped Randall Made on the backside as well as 10-7 ( model 10 with 7" blade) .  The sheath is in good used condition, with its only real flaw being a light cut in the strap that encircles the handle. . Please see the many pics I have taken.

This is a rare and lovely knife that is not commonly found anywhere especially in this condition and in Canada. A wonderful addition to a collection or for any outdoor enthusiast / Fisherman... ( also great for kitchen use )...who wants only the best !

Here is a quote from Bo Randall "Our customers have included astronauts, government agents, celebrities, statesmen and royalty. Most importantly to me, there are thousands upon thousands of individuals who choose Randall knives because they need a superbly crafted knife they can count on in the home and in the field."

Measures approximately 11-3/4" overall

Needs to be sharpened prior to use.
