Description

Antique First Nations Crooked Knife . This unusual knife was a must have tool for daily life. It was used for everything from carving a canoe paddle, to making bows or arrows. This example came from a large tool collection and we know very little about it.

The blade measures approximately 3-3/4" and is in quite good condition with little rust and a reasonable sharp edge. It is set into the carved wooden handle and held in place with leather and waxed linen ( I think...some kind of fine rope or twine maybe? ) The handle has the usual curved design and has several letters or symbols on the back end. The knife measures 10-1/4" overall in length.

There are some specs or drops of paint on the knife on the handle as well as a smear of white on the lashing. I am not sure if these are old or have happened while in storage over the decades. I have some pictures with either arrows pointing or circles around these spots.
