New Old Stock 1960's Carborundum , made in Canada No. 201 RAZOR HONE - Combination Stone. These stones were packed away for long term storage in the 1960's. To prepare for storage they were wrapped in cheese cloth that had been impregnated with beeswax or paraffin. This created a waterproof protective layer. It was then wrapped in brown paper and sealed in a plastic bag. The buyer will receive a stone that is still sealed in the package. The stones are double sided and were considered to be the best and most useful of the Carborundum brand Razor hones. One side of the stone is silicon carbide (grey side) and the other is aloxite ( aluminum oxide - light tan) . The aloxite is the finer side and should be used for final honing / sharpening. The stones measure 3-7/8" x 2" x 5/8". A rare new old stock tool that is great for the collector but equally as useful for knives, razors and all types of small tools.
