This lovely plane has beautiful rosewood totes. They appear to be in very good condition. The rear tote has a mark on its top from the adjustment lever being pressed into it. The base is corrugated and lovely. The outside edges of the plane appear to have been very lightly scalloped...it may have been done with a file. I am not sure if this was from manufacturing (?) or someone did this as a decorative element. I only noticed after I took my photos so I went back and tried to get some closeups. It is very hard to see but definitely there . So please look closely!  The cap iron has some light plating loss and corrosion...see pics but is very nice and would polish up easily. The other unusual and rare aspect of the plane is the super hard to come by Veritas Scraper plane attachment that has been installed. The blade and chip breaker are not included as they were replaced by the scraper attachment. This attachment was only made for a few years and is very hard to find. I have been told that with it a lovely finish can be attained on even the most difficult burl or birds eye. To convert back to a standard No. 5 all that is needed is a blade and chip breaker  .
